Miley Cyrus - Everything You Need To Know

Miley Cyrus rose to fame with her characterization of "Hannah Montana" on the Disney Channel. She soon became one of the top teen idols of America and went on to become a pop singer and actress in the country. She is also in her own right an author, entrepreneur, fashion designer, and songwriter. She is ranked number 13 in the Forbes 2010 Celebrity 100.

Miley was born on November 23, 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee to Letica Tish Cyrus and Billy Ray. Her father Billy Ray is a country singer who also starred as her father in the Hannah Montana series. Cyrus was named as Destiny Hope by her parents as they felt she would grow up to make it big in future. As a toddler she showcased her talents in acting but never pursued it until the age of eight.

It is said that during the time when her father was filming the television series "Doc", Cyrus was inspired to act. So she went on to join the Armstrong Acting Studio in Toronto taking lessons in acting and singing. At the age of 12 she was selected for the role of Hannah Montana which shot her to fame amongst the teenagers.

The "Best of Both Worlds", which was the theme song of Hannah Montana, was her first single debut. "See You Again" was her first single to be released under her own name that made it to the top ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2008, Walt Disney pictures released "Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both World Concert" which earned them $29 million at the box office and also the film's soundtrack made it to number 3 on the Billboard 200.

After this success she started to co-write songs in her albums. She also gave voice to the animation movie Bolt (2008). She earned nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for her performance in Bolt's theme song. In the next Hannah Montana movie she again tasted success and the song "The Climb" made it to the top of charts giving her a wider audience worldwide. As per the Billboard magazine Cyrus was the fourth best selling female artist and the fifth best selling singer.

She wanted to have an image change to reach out to a wider audience, other than her teen fans. She tried to do so with the release of Times of Our Lives and filming The Last Song. Her fourth album "Can't Be Tamed" was released in 2010 which gives a new dance-pop sound, but her portrayals were not so well received by the audiences.
